#FF Fri Fundraisers for June 23, 2017

Sarah is off on a weekend adventure, so I thought I’d take this time to update you all on a few things. You might have noticed that the content on The Director List Twitter and Facebook feeds has changed a bit. What used to be several timely news items about female directors, as well as movie trailers, and other finely curated content (if I do say so myself) everyday, has become a less consistent stream of random posts and retweets. Some days there’s not even a single new post from TDL.

The truth is, I needed to catch my breath. And once I caught my breath, I looked around and realized I wasn’t running The Director List in a way that was sustainable for me and my longterm health. To put it mildly, I was a bit stressed ALL THE TIME.  That’s no way to live, my friends. And despite what you hear about the 24/7 entrepreneurial/startup/whatever-this-is life, spending every waking minute thinking about your passion doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing things right.

Now with a clearer head, I’m assessing what I’m capable of doing while also maintaining a life. As much as I love sharing director news on social media, it’s currently not the best way to utilize my time. Plus, there are several other accounts and individuals that now do that, so I don’t feel women in film are being overlooked in the publicity department as much as when I first started Tweeting (hooray!).

I will absolutely continue to share female director updates on social media, I can’t resist, but it will be as time permits between living my non-web life and higher priority work behind the scenes of TDL. My top TDL priorities right now are: adding more directors to the database and optimizing this site* so it can be financially sustainable.

Please do continue to visit the TDL social media accounts (that includes Instagram!) and share the content. It will help us with that second priority I mentioned and, of course, get the word out about some talented female directors. Be sure to visit this website regularly, too, to see how it evolves.

As always, know you can tweet or email big news to TDL and we will likely RT or share it. Response time might be a little slower, since I’m not on social media all the time, but you’re actually making things easier for me! In the comment field below, please feel free to leave me any questions you have about this update.

Thanks for stopping by, don’t forget to check out the list below of fab film projects currently fundraising. And, if you’d like to support The Director List in that area, too, please head on over to our donation page.

*A recent new optimization is the row of share buttons you’ll find at the bottom of this post. Go ahead and give them a try and help us get the word out about the filmmakers currently crowdfunding!

Reminder: All of the projects listed below have female directors at the helm OR they are projects that benefit women directors (e.g., film festivals, funds, etc).  The campaigns at the top of the list are the ones ending soonest, so get in there and support ASAP (with $$ or an RT on Twitter). Click the titles to go directly to each project’s crowdfunding page, those in italics are new additions this week.

Thanks for visiting and thank you very much for helping us support and raise awareness about WOMEN DIRECTORS AT WORK!
