What a weekend it was at Citizen Jane Film Festival 2017. I’m proud to announce that I’ll soon be hiring a woman to direct the screenplay “Kismet” which won the first Screen Grab Prize at a pitch competition during the festival!
The Screen Grab idea was born out of a collaboration with the Stephens College Screenwriting MFA program. There were 21 short screenplay submissions and the top 5 were pitched in a live “Citizen Jane Film School” session last Friday (also partially on Facebook live!). The winning writer was awarded $250 and a production deal. I’ve partnered with CJFF to be the first producer for their Screen Grab winners, so I’ll be hitting the ground running with the hopes that a film will be ready to screen at CJFF 2018! More jobs for working women directors, yes!
Soon enough you’ll find “Kismet” added to the weekly list below. There are so many crowdfunding websites out there with amazing listings, here’s a selection of our picks. Thanks for taking a look, and as always, feel free to send us recommendations on more projects we can include next week.
Reminder: All of the projects listed below have female directors at the helm OR they are projects that benefit women directors (e.g., film festivals, funds, etc). The campaigns at the top of the list are the ones ending soonest, so get in there and support ASAP (with $$ or an RT on Twitter). Click the titles to go directly to each project’s crowdfunding page, those in italics are new additions this week.
Thanks for visiting and thank you very much for helping us support and raise awareness about WOMEN DIRECTORS AT WORK!
